Mr Joe Kennedy, Rahard, Ballinrobe, who passed away last night (Thursday, December 17) was a keen follower of Gaelic games.
His son Patrick played with the club for many years, and continues to be an extremely loyal and active member, most notably in a coaching capacity at various levels, including senior. Earlier this year, Patrick was one of the driving forces behind the team that captured the South Mayo U14 B title, a significant victory for club.
He played on the club team that won the 1990 Mayo junior football championship. In his professional capacity, he coaches Gaelic football to boys and girls in the primary schools of this region.
Joe followed the fortunes of Ballinrobe and Mayo closely, and was a well-known and popular figure in the locality.
Funeral arrangements HERE. As a mark of respect, the club will form a guard of honour at the removal on Saturday evening. Members are asked to assemble at 6.20pm at O’Malley’s Funeral Home, wearing club gear.
The club extends sympathy to the Kennedy family on their sad loss. May he rest in peace.
