Ballina return to Ballinrobe on Saturday
THE next round of the Michael Walsh Secondary League on Saturday evening (throw-in at 6pm) pits the Ballinrobe senior team against Ballina Stephenites for the first time since the sides met in the county senior championship last July.
That defeat in ‘The Lough’ knocked Ballinrobe out of the championship race while Ballina went on to lose the Mayo SFC quarter-final against eventual winners Ballintubber.
Norman O’Brien will be without the injured Donal Vaughan and James O’Malley again this weekend, but Sean Grimes should be back in action after his first week of being a ‘daddy’!
The senior management team will also be able to call on the services of Kenneth O’Malley and David Killeen as both players are not currently involved with the Mayo senior squad.
Ballinrobe have beaten Kiltane and Tourmakeady so far in this competition, and will be anxious to put last weekend’s defeat against Ballaghaderreen behind them.
Ballina, even without their county players like Ger Cafferkey and Ronan McGarrity, will be a tough nut to crack though. Their confidence will also be boosted by last weekend’s senior league win over Charlestown.
Please come along and show your support for the Ballinrobe lads on Saturday evening if you can. .
