Ballinrobe has a strong connection with the Monaghan minor team who play Mayo in the ESB All-Ireland semi-final on Sunday next – twins Adam and Andrew Kieran, who play with Monaghan, are grand-nephews of our former President Jim Kierans, who passed away in February of this year.
Note they spell their surname without an ‘s’, whereas Jim’s had the ‘s’.
