Juniors lose out to Mayo Over-40s

By Billy Horan

THE artists formerly known as the Mayo over 40s, now renamed as St Patrick’s, defeated Ballinrobe by 1-11 to 0-5, in the second round of the Reserve League, Group Two, at Flanagan Park, on Wednesday evening.
An early goal by the impressive Noel Stagg gave the visitors a confident start and they deservedly led by 1-5 to 0-1 at the interval. Ballinrobe tried hard to rectify matters after the restart, but to little avail, and the lively victors extended their advantage in the last quarter.
Noel Stagg, the top scorer, Ray Lynch, John Horan, John Pat Sheridan, Noel Convey, Eddie Ball and Brendan Ruane figured conspicuously for St Patrick’s.
Alan Murphy, David Flannery, Declan Reilly, Kieran Sheridan and Declan Costello did best for Ballinrobe.
