Adrian Flannery has put in a major campaign as he bids to replace long-serving Mayor Johnny Buckley, and the final rally will take place in Art O’Neill’s Bar on Friday, October 28th.

“All great election campaigns include a final rally, when supporters come out to wish the candidate all the best on the final furlong of the race. That’s why we are inviting all our members, players, supporters and friends to come along on that night – Adrian and his team have worked extremely hard to get the vote out, and this rally may be the last opportunity many people get to ‘vote’ for Adrian through purchase of tickets in the fund-raising draw which features excellent prizes,” said a club spokesperson.

On the night, there will be excellent raffle prizes, live music, and a number of video showings, including the recent ‘truck pull’ which saw club members pull a 14-tonne truck around the town of Ballinrobe, as part of the mayoral campaign.

“This is a key night. We aim to give Adrian a special send-off, and we will also be hearing some of his plans if he is elected to the prestigious position of mayor,” added the spokesperson.

Adrian (Ballinrobe GAA Club), Peter McHugh (Ballinrobe RFC), and Paddy McTigue (Ballinrobe Town AFC) are the contestants seeking to succeed Mayor Buckley.

The winner will be announced at a special function in the Valkenburg, Ballinrobe, on Saturday, November 5th.
