U12 Blitz – Thursday @ 6:30pm

For the third year the club will be hosting a U12 Blitz on Thursday 24th August @ 6:30pm to 8:30pm in Ballinrobe. Four teams will compete for the Christy O’Loughlin Cup, with all teams playing each other with a third/fourth place playoff and overall final. The teams participating are  Ballinrobe Mayo Gaels Carras The Neale Please come along there will be some great young talent on show and sure to be some very exciting games. Parents are asked to contribute some small items so that we can provide refreshments to visiting players and supporters.

South Mayo Minor B Final

Please come along and support Ballinrobe Minors tomorrow (18th August) when they play Hollymount-Carramore in Kilmaine at 7pm. We have had a busy week this week with many of our underage teams in action and we have been very lucky to have had great support for those games, we are hoping for another great turnout at this game. Narrow win for minors

A goal by substitute Ewan Duffy was the winning score in Ballinrobe’s defeat of The Neale by 4-11 to 4-10 in the semi-final of the South Mayo minor B football championship, at Flanagan Park, Ballinrobe, on Friday evening. The Neale, with county minor Tommy Conroy to the fore, had a commanding advantage of 4-8 to 1-4 at the interval. In a lively second half, goals from Jack Flanagan and Liam Burke brought Ballinrobe back into contention, and goalkeeper David Lynagh was seen to effect when saving a Tommy Conroy penalty. Liam Burke, Evan O’Brien, Evan Reaney, Oran O’Malley and Christopher Vahey were prominent for Ballinrobe. Best for The Neale were Tommy Conroy, Brian O’Halloran, Fergal Sweeney, Zak Feerick and Matthew Murphy.

U12 Boys Blitz in Dunmore

By Declan O Loughlin Bord na nOg Our U12 boys ventured out of Mayo to take part The Tommy Keenan cup in Dunmore on Tuesday evening 8th of August. Four teams took part Dunmore MacHales, Ballinrobe, Cortoon Shamrocks and Milltown. On a beautiful evening our U12s played four games and played some of their best football of the year so far. They reached the final and lost narrowly to MacHales in what was a thrilling match. Well done to the coaches and players.

U12 Girls Blitz in Tourmakeady

Well done to our U12 girls who took part in the Thomais Ui Eimhrin blitz in Tourmakeady on Sunday 6th August. The girls played Tourmakeady and Breaffy and put on a great display in both games.  Well done to the players and coaches, this group continues to improve all the time. Thanks to the parents for bringing the girls to the blitz and staying to support them. Thanks to Tourmakeady for organising this event and for being great hosts. This was the start of a busy week for these girls with another match this Wednesday in Headford and a U13 match on Friday.

Our U16s got off to a great start with a win over Kilmovee Shamrocks in the first round of the championship. Well done to the players and their coaches.
