Skills challenge a big attraction at Agricultural Show

From Declan O’Loughlin, chairperson, Robe Rockets: Ballinrobe Agricultural Show very kindly invited the Robe Rockets to this year’s event, we created a skills challenge which proved a great attraction for young and old (and is much more difficult than it looks – thanks to Tom Feerick for his devilish handiwork). We also had a guess the number of footballs in the car – won by Pat Hayes, Hollymount. Prizes were sponsored by Tierney Shoes, Rapunzal Hair Salon, Tracey Pharmacy, Martin Murphy and Ballinrobe Acupuncture Clinic. As always many thanks to our sponsors. Well done to all the Ladies coaches, players (boys and girls) and ladies committee members who helped out in the day. It proved a great way to raise a little money but more importantly promote our club in the community.

Ladies football teams play Kilmaine

From Declan O’Loughlin, chairperson, Ballinrobe Ladies Football club – reference ladies football games in Kilmaine on Friday evening (see pic below): Robe Rockets – Ladies U10s and U12s played in Kilmaine this evening. We had 13 players line out for the under 12s and 20 line out for the U10s. The girls played in two very close games and as always did our club proud. Many of these girls have only started playing this summer and for some it was their first game for Ballinrobe. A special thanks to parents who ensure the girls get to training and matches, without your assistance there would be no teams. LGFA have devised a coaching resource booklet to encourage underage players to practice their skills at home and remain physical active outside of their weekly coaching sessions and Ballinrobe Ladies have taken part. The coaches were very proud of the levels of skills improvement. All are looking forward to the Ladies first trip to Croke Park on Sept 27th it should be a great day for all our girls.

U6s, 8s and 10s go toe-to-toe with @BallintubberCLG

From David Conway, Secretary, Robe Rockets re Wednesday night’s trip to Ballintubber – scroll down for report.  Large numbers of Ballinrobe and Ballintubber young players gathered in Ballintubber Community Pitch this evening. Ballinrobe arrived in droves with final numbers totaling 85 of U6’s, U8’s and U10’s.(These were matched with double as many numbers of the silent army of midgets..but that didn’t stop the play!) Ballintubber offered us a warm welcome and were good opponents with similar numbers in each age group. It was a wonderful sight to see this evening with nearly 170 Girls and Boys playing football on all 6 pitches across the three age groups. The teams were selected and each child got to play. It would be hard to call the final scores as there were so many matches being played but there were goals and points a plenty going in at either end. Well done to all. A big thank you to our Robe Rockets who played and enjoyed the outing this evening, for some their first Away match. Robe Rockets looks forward to welcoming Ballintubber to Flanagan Park in the near future. Thanks to Ballintubber for hosting us, thanks to all parents for bring their kids along this evening and a special mention to all the coaches and helpers this evening for their hard work. The future looks bright…
