U10/U12 Ladies Pella starting this Wednesday

U10/U12 Ladies Pella is starting this Wednesday July 4th in Lakeside Sport & Fitness Club, Station Road, Ballinrobe. Pella is an indoor version of Gaelic Football which can be played as a five a side game, in an indoor arena or on an all weather pitch.  It allows us to develop our skills indoors during the Winter and the game has many similar rules to the outside game with some extra rules ( as shown below ) to facilitate this indoor sport. Having seen the boys playing last Friday evening in the Gym I can guarantee you will enjoy it as both a player and a spectator.  The games themselves are 10minutes aside( timetable shown below) and for those 10minutes the ball travels up and down the court very fast. PLEASE NOTE: All Players MUST wear Gum Shields.  Players would be advised to bring a drink with them on the night. Players should arrive 10 minutes before their scheduled game as shown in timetable below. Matches will be 10 minutes aside with a half time break.  Allowing for delays, players should be available for collection  30 minutes after kick-off time. €8 to be paid on Wednesday.

Listen here to full commentary on final SFL game v Burrishoole, coverage 11.20am

Note: game has been changed to 11.30am. Tune in HERE (archive will be there too afterwards – go to Tracks, where you will also be able to listen to previous games we have broadcast). Note date change below + note that Tom Carney is stepping into the commentary hot seat for the first time due to the unavoidable absence of Liam Horan. P Cos will be there to keep a close eye on Tom and to keep him in the luxury to which Liam Horan has become accustomed. Our final Mayo SFL Division 1B league game is against Burrishoole on Sunday, November 1, at 11.30am, at Flanagan Park, Ballinrobe. This will be our final game of the season as we continue our battle to avoid relegation. We are appealing to all our supporters to come along and cheer on the team. We had a good win against Shrule-Glencorrib on Saturday night. If you can’t make it, we will be streaming this game live, led by Tom Carney (commentator), Padraig Costello Snr (Ballinrobe analyst) and hopefully a Burrishoole analyst. Coverage starts at 11.20am. Tune in HERE (archive will be there too afterwards – go to Tracks, where you will also be able to listen to previous games we have broadcast). Keep your wits about you because it may be necessary to create a new link under Tracks. This is because we are still trialling the free account which has some time limitations. Tweet @ballinrobegaa or pop a message herehttps://www.facebook.com/BallinrobeGAAFanPage with details of where you plan to listen to the game. And keep in touch during the game too, audience interaction is a big part of this.

Final U10 game of the season – and a little gift

Our lads played their final game of game of the season last Friday 9th October against Ballintubber. It was a lovely evening with some fantastic football on show by both teams. We had 30 players line out for Ballinrobe which was our highest number this year. Well done to our mentors and players, the improvement in skill levels has been superb! As a reward for all their hard work during the year, Eamon Marrey of Marrey Bikes sponsored each player a water bottle to mark the occasion.

U12 Ladies Take Part in Their First Blitz Ever

By Declan O’ Loughlin, Chairperson, Ballinrobe Ladies: The Ballinrobe ladies took part in our first U12 blitz last Saturday in Claremorris. It was very late notice and thanks to the Mayo LGFA and our hosts Claremorris for the invitation. Thanks to the U10 girls who attended and enabled us to field a team. We had 12 players line out for the first game against Louisburgh and 13 for second game against Claremorris. Our girls did magnificently against physically much stronger opposition and as always out girls showed great determination and courage and never gave up. Our second half against Claremorris showed just what these girls are made of. It was great experience and players and coaches learn more each game we play. ( Photos Below)

U10 Ladies Play Claremorris

By Aidrienne Gleeson, PRO, Ballinrobe Ladies: Our U10  Ladies played Claremorris on Friday evening last, October 2nd at Flanagan Park, Ballinrobe. We fielded two u10 teams and played  two games of  four by 10min quarters.  Neither game disappointed. Both games showed our ladies have grown with both their skills and fitness through out the year. The fact that we had two separate U10 games on the night meant our ladies all got a good run on the pitch. Both teams proved they capabilities on the night and were fit for Claremorris. Ladies Training with Cora Staunton

Our Ladies Night training with Cora Staunton written by Aidrienne Gleeson Our U8, U10  and U12 ladies had the honour of the presence of  Cora Staunton on Wednesday 23rd September.  Not only did Cora, “the Legend”,  come join us, Cora actually took the Training session with the girls. The girls who turned out in force, 45 in all, thoroughly  enjoyed the training session with Cora ( evidenced in photos attached). Cora managed the 45 for the hour and them before she left the pitch did some Autograph signing for the girls. We the coaches and girls thank Cora for attending and taking the training.  We have already started following in her steps by attending Croke Park, Sunday 27th September,  and we hope to continue  following in her steps as our teams grow stronger. We look forward to Cora returning to our club for another session in very near future.

Ballinrobe players on winning school team

By Liam Horan, Webmaster Congratulations to Ballinrobe Community School on their victory over Ballyhaunis Community School in the Mayo First Year football championship last week. We are very proud of the fact that nine Ballinrobe club players featured on the squad, led by team captain Adam Flannery. The nine are Adam Flannery, Jason Butler, Conor O’Brien, Cian Sheridan, Eoin Gilrane, Dylan Sweeney, Jack Woods, David Opora and Johnny Heneghan. These players have come through our underage system in recent years, particularly the Academy, and it is very gratifying for the club to see them rise through the ranks. Additionally, they have had successes at U13 and U14 levels with the club recently. [Category News, Slider, Coaching, Bord na nOg]
