Narrow win for minors

A goal by substitute Ewan Duffy was the winning score in Ballinrobe’s defeat of The Neale by 4-11 to 4-10 in the semi-final of the South Mayo minor B football championship, at Flanagan Park, Ballinrobe, on Friday evening. The Neale, with county minor Tommy Conroy to the fore, had a commanding advantage of 4-8 to 1-4 at the interval. In a lively second half, goals from Jack Flanagan and Liam Burke brought Ballinrobe back into contention, and goalkeeper David Lynagh was seen to effect when saving a Tommy Conroy penalty. Liam Burke, Evan O’Brien, Evan Reaney, Oran O’Malley and Christopher Vahey were prominent for Ballinrobe. Best for The Neale were Tommy Conroy, Brian O’Halloran, Fergal Sweeney, Zak Feerick and Matthew Murphy.

U12 Boys Blitz in Dunmore

By Declan O Loughlin Bord na nOg Our U12 boys ventured out of Mayo to take part The Tommy Keenan cup in Dunmore on Tuesday evening 8th of August. Four teams took part Dunmore MacHales, Ballinrobe, Cortoon Shamrocks and Milltown. On a beautiful evening our U12s played four games and played some of their best football of the year so far. They reached the final and lost narrowly to MacHales in what was a thrilling match. Well done to the coaches and players.

U12 Girls Blitz in Tourmakeady

Well done to our U12 girls who took part in the Thomais Ui Eimhrin blitz in Tourmakeady on Sunday 6th August. The girls played Tourmakeady and Breaffy and put on a great display in both games.  Well done to the players and coaches, this group continues to improve all the time. Thanks to the parents for bringing the girls to the blitz and staying to support them. Thanks to Tourmakeady for organising this event and for being great hosts. This was the start of a busy week for these girls with another match this Wednesday in Headford and a U13 match on Friday.

Disabled Drivers Association of Ireland collection

Every year, the Disabled Drivers Association of Ireland ask us to carry out a Church Gate collection for them. This year’s (2019) it’s on August 3rd and 4th – but I’ve dropped Saturday evening for obvious reasons (Mayo v Donegal)…so it’s just Sunday. The list below is from two years ago – can people do similar? Let me know how you are fixed. Sign and collection carton will be at the gate. Club news, July 24, 2017

By Irene Langan, Club Secretary Our senior team will be the invited guests at this evening’s race meeting, the first of a two-day race meeting here in Ballinrobe. Weather is looking good for what promises to be a great two days. We hope that all the locals turn out to support our senior team sponsors. Hopefully a few nice wins will be had locally too.   Congrats to Stephen Rochford and Donie Vaughan on Saturday’s win in Limerick and best of luck in Croke Park on Sunday next. We will all be behind ye cheering ye on. . We had three lucky winners in the Mayo club draws so far. Martin O’Connor won €500, Alan Flannery won €200 and Niamh and Ben Williams won €200. This is a great start to the draws and hopefully, we will have a few more winners in the next draws. . Super Valu are holding their Back the Ball promotion and anyone who spends €20 or more in store gets a voucher to place in the club box of your choice. We ask you all to support our club by getting as many vouchers as possible in our box as the more vouchers, the more footballs our club receives for our underage players.   Ireland’s Leading Retailer Will Donate 55,000 Footballs To GAA Clubs Across The Country
