Cancelled due to promised bad weather – Robe Rockets scheduled for Saturday

CANCELLED – bad weather promised so we are not going to take a chance – it will be rescheduled soon.  This Saturday, May 2nd, is Boys’ Debut Day, a very special day for our club. Our U6s and U8s boys will play Claremorris at 11am in Flanagan Park. This is a family day – in the past we have had parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers, almost everyone, up there to cheer the debutantes onto the pitch. The club likes to make this an important day as it will mark the first time these players will wear the maroon and yellow of Ballinrobe. We hope it will be the start of a long, enjoyable and successful relationship. This section of the club is run by the newly-formed Robe Rockets section of the club, which has been done great work over the last few months. More on Robe Rockets HERE Bring the cameras. Capture the memories. Wear club gear. And, never forget, bring gum shields (that’s just for the players, by the way). The girls will have their very own Girls’ Debut Day soon. Here’s how we have done Debut Days in the past.

Cash for Clubs – last push on to get us over the line – can you help?

Cash for Clubs (more HERE)is an initiative that does exactly what it says on the tin: it gives cash to clubs like ours. We need 300 cards to be guaranteed €250 – and that will also get us entered into the big draw where there is €10,000 worth of prizes. We currently have about 210 cards. The closing date is May 10th. One last push gets us over the line so all support would be welcome. Cards can be given to John Culhane or Kevin Gilrane. If you have a card on the dashboard of the car, or in your wallet, please get it to John or Kevin asap. Or if you can get registered in the next few days, please do. All the details you need are HERE (same link as above).

Our Rockets win a prize in St Patrick’s Day parade

Second update, March 18th, 2015: Just got word that we won a prize yesterday so well done all concerned. It’s an Honourable Mention award. Update, March 18th, 2015: Well done to our huge group of Robe Rockets who represented Ballinrobe GAA Club in yesterday’s St Patrick’s Day parade. Photos are available for download HERE – if you have any to add, email them to liamhoran09@gmail.com and I will add them there. Accordingly, you can expect that more photos will be added to this folder over the coming days so might be no harm to check back (as I type, there are 87 photos syncing, so those alone will take a few hours). They certainly made themselves seen and heard – each participant was given a whistle with the exhortation to ‘blow like mad’, and they certainly took the instruction to heart. Hats off to Annette Conway for making 100 of those little maroon and yellow things (not sure what the correct term is – I’ve heard them called many things – my personal favourite is ‘Willie Joes’) and Padraic Delaney for sponsoring goody bags for the children. Special word of thanks to the parents who brought the children along, and our club coaches and members who co-ordinated the group. Well done, too, to the organisers of the St Patrick’s Day parade as a whole. It was a huge success.   Ballinrobe GAA club Robe Rockets will take part in the town’s St Patrick’s Day Parade. We will have players up to the age of 12 flying the club colours – jerseys, socks, togs, flags, tops, the lot. All players wishing to take part should turn up at the parade convening point in their club gear, please have kids wear clothing appropriate for the weather conditions. Parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters are also very welcome to join in. That’s 3:15pm at the Crann Mor Centre, Neale Road. The parade rolls off at 3.30pm. Padraic Delaney (Robe Rockets) is our main club organiser on the day.
