Grace Bradley wins ‘design the Robe Rockets logo’ competition

  Grace Bradley, Cahir, Ballinrobe, has won the competition to design the new Robe Rockets logo. See her winning entry below, plus pictures of Grace, her father Michael (one of our coaches), Robe Rockets chairperson Declan O’Loughlin and club chairperson Alan Flannery. The announcement was made at this morning’s weekly Robe Rockets football practice in Lakeside Sports & Fitness Centre. Grace’s prize is a €50 Vaughan’s Shoes voucher, sponsored by Ballinrobe GAA club. She will also liaise with a graphic designer who will work on converting her design for use as the logo of Robe Rockets ad infinitum. The full launch of the logo will take place once Grace and the designer have completed their work. Good luck to handballers in All-Ireland final

Three members of Ballinrobe Handball Club – John O’Malley, Frank Macken and Jimmy Sheridan – are representing Mayo in the All-Ireland handball finals. They will compete in the Emerald Masters Doubles and Golden Masters Doubles sections. Jimmy’s partner is Peter Burke, Newport Handball Club. The finals will take place in Kilbeggan, Co. Westmeath, on Sunday next, March 21st, from 2pm, and the club wishes them every success. The club have already won five Connacht titles this year.

Sean Shaughnessy on Mayo U21 squad

Ballinrobe man Sean Shaughnessy is sub goalkeeper on the Mayo U21 team that plays Leitrim in the opening round of the Connacht U21 championship in McHale Park, Castlebar, this evening at 7.30pm. The full team is: The Connacht G.A.A. U-21 Football Championship gets underway this week where Mayo take on Leitrim in the Quarter-Final with the winner progressing to the Semi-Final against Galway. Mayo U-21 Manager Niall Heffernan will be keen to get off to a winning start after last years defeat to Roscommon in the first outing. The Mayo U-21 team will be boosted by the presence of some of the senior players such as Diarmuid O’Connor, Stephen Coen and Patrick Durcan.
