Ballinrobe Ladies Football club reformed

By Aidrienne Gleeson, Ladies football PRO Ballinrobe Ladies Football club has been reformed after an absence of approximately a decade – and Declan O’Loughlin has been elected as chairperson. The annual general meeting to form the club took place on Tuesday night last in the TACU Centre, Ballinrobe, and was addressed by Ballinrobe GAA club chairperson Alan Flannery. The ladies club will operate as part of the overall GAA club. The following officers were elected: Chairperson Declan O’Loughlin; Vice do Nicola Macken; Secretary Mary Langan; Assistant do Noreen Jennings; Treasurer Emma Jennings; Children’s Officer  Eimear Grimes; Club Development Officer Elaine Treacy; PRO Aidrienne Gleeson. The club, which currently has over 40 girls coming to weekly training sessions, will continue to train on Saturday mornings from 9.30 to 10.30 at Flanagan Park. We welcome new members on a weekly basis. If you have girls under the age of 12 why not come out on a Saturday morning and see if theywould like playing football. There is no pressure to join the club straight away, come two or three times to see if your little one is interested and then sign up.   It is not necessary to buy football boots: just come out and play in your old runners and get the boots later.  There is no need to buy the club gear either as this is provided to players when playing a match. We do require gum shields to be worn for your own protection. This is now compulsory for everybody playing on a football pitch. Parents, if you are interested in getting involved with your children on the pitch, you could join our coaching volunteers.  Even if you have never played football before you would be paired up with an experienced coach to learn the ropes. Debut Day is currently being planned for our girls.  This will be their first match this year against another club.  Refreshments and treats will be provided that morning.  Further update will be posted in the coming weeks.

We reach Cash for Clubs target – thank you

By John Culhane, Club Treasurer The Cash for Clubs has come to an end. Thanks to the everyone’s efforts we reached the target of 300 completed cards. Hopefully our name will be pulled out of the hat in the near future and we will win one of the cash prizes. The club would like to particularly thank Kevin Gilrane from Topaz who co-ordinated the collection of the cards and kept us on our toes over the last few months.
