Great week (and season) continues for school with Connacht juvenile victory

By Liam Horan, Webmaster A great week (and season) for Ballinrobe Community School continued yesterday when the school’s rising stars won the Connacht Juvenile B championship. They defeated ‘The Bish’ (St Joseph’s, Galway) by 3-14 to 3-7 in a thrilling final at Headford. We are particularly proud of the Ballinrobe players in the squad, but, equally, we know the unique atmosphere that permeates a successful school team when players from a variety of clubs pool together. Well done to team manager Martin Gavin, a member of the Mountbellew-Moylough club in Galway, who guided the team to victory.  We are lucky locally to have enjoyed many great Ballinrobe Community School successes down the years, and it is clear that we are now in a very promising era. This triumph is also a vindication of all the great work being done in local clubs, not least in our own club where many of these players cut their teeth in our Skills Academy (now known as the Robe Rockets) and at Bord na nOg level. Thanks to Alan Flannery for providing this picture after the great deed was done.

Evan and Oran named on Mayo minor squad for 2017

After the recent series of County Cup games, two Ballinrobe players – Evan O’Brien and Oran O’Malley – have been named in the Mayo minor squad for 2017. Evan and Oran both shone in the County Cup games that culminated in south Mayo losing narrowly to East Mayo in the final – 1-9 to 0-11 – at Mulvey Park, Castlebar. However, despite the disappointment of the defeat, there was good news for Oran and Evan, two of our most promising and committed young players, when they were included in the squad. We wish them the very best of luck and know they will represent our club with distinction. Both figured prominently in our recent Mayo U21 C championship final victory over Kilmeena. You can relive that game, including full commentary, after-match interviews and photos http://ballinrobegaaclub.com/u21final/

U12/13 Ladies Pella Final

We had a great turnout to watch our last games and what great finals we had to finish off our football for 2016. The games were very competitive but played in a great spirit and all the girls were rightly proud of the way they played. There are lots of people to thanks, firstly thanks to OBH Kitchens for sponsorship of the cups for the winning teams. Thanks to John F and all at Lakeside for facilitating the running of the league and for providing a goodie bag for all the players after the finals. Thanks to Ellen, Leah and Mary our TY coaches – they have always encouraged and supported the players and are a great example to the girls. Thanks to parents who got the girls to the matches, we had a great turnout for all the games this year. And lastly thanks to the 32 the players, many of whom have just started playing football for the first time this year. Their skills, enthusiasm and sportsmanship have made it a very enjoyable six weeks. There were many highlights from the finals but these stood out. Kicked scores – Lara Philbin & Maria Macken Best Block – Moya O Connell & Sinead O Sullivan Best hand passed score – Maeve Feerick & Magdalena Burakiewicz A few photos from the Final

On the form the customer nominates their GAA club They will also need to submit their policy number Payments to clubs will be made after the policy has been in place for 3 months and payments will begin in March 2017.
