There should be no shortage of exciting action at Flanagan Park, Ballinrobe, on Wednesday evening, with the playing of the South Mayo under 14 finals. The Neale and Hollymount-Carramore clash in the B decider at 7pm, and Ballinrobe will face impressive Davitts in the A final at 8.30pm.

Ballinrobe and Shrule-Glencorrib will be in contention in the semi-final of the Mayo U16 E football championship at Flanagan Park, Ballinrobe, on Tuesday evening 15th August at 7 o’clock. An exciting contest is anticipated.

Narrow win for minors

A goal by substitute Ewan Duffy was the winning score in Ballinrobe’s defeat of The Neale by 4-11 to 4-10 in the semi-final of the South Mayo minor B football championship, at Flanagan Park, Ballinrobe, on Friday evening. The Neale, with county minor Tommy Conroy to the fore, had a commanding advantage of 4-8 to 1-4 at the interval. In a lively second half, goals from Jack Flanagan and Liam Burke brought Ballinrobe back into contention, and goalkeeper David Lynagh was seen to effect when saving a Tommy Conroy penalty. Liam Burke, Evan O’Brien, Evan Reaney, Oran O’Malley and Christopher Vahey were prominent for Ballinrobe. Best for The Neale were Tommy Conroy, Brian O’Halloran, Fergal Sweeney, Zak Feerick and Matthew Murphy.

U12 Girls Blitz in Tourmakeady

Well done to our U12 girls who took part in the Thomais Ui Eimhrin blitz in Tourmakeady on Sunday 6th August. The girls played Tourmakeady and Breaffy and put on a great display in both games.  Well done to the players and coaches, this group continues to improve all the time. Thanks to the parents for bringing the girls to the blitz and staying to support them. Thanks to Tourmakeady for organising this event and for being great hosts. This was the start of a busy week for these girls with another match this Wednesday in Headford and a U13 match on Friday.

Disabled Drivers Association of Ireland collection

Every year, the Disabled Drivers Association of Ireland ask us to carry out a Church Gate collection for them. This year’s (2019) it’s on August 3rd and 4th – but I’ve dropped Saturday evening for obvious reasons (Mayo v Donegal)…so it’s just Sunday. The list below is from two years ago – can people do similar? Let me know how you are fixed. Sign and collection carton will be at the gate.
