Macra info night

We have been asked to let our members know about the following, and we’re glad to help out the Macra na Feirme by so doing: South Mayo Macra are holding an information night, in Crann Mòr training centre Ballinrobe, this Wednesday, July 17th at 8.30pm. If you are aged 17 – 35 and fancy trying something new, join Macra. Activities include, sport, social nights, drama, travel, community involvement and many more. Cul Camp

Start time this Monday, 9.30am sign-on for 10am start. Tuesday onwards, start time is 10am. Finish time is 2.30pm each day. The Kelloggs Cul Camp will again take place in Flanagan Park, Ballinrobe, this year from July 15-19. Below is some relevent information about the camp Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps provide boys and girls – between the ages of 6 and 13 – with an action-packed and fun-filled week of activity during the summer holidays which revolves around maximising enjoyment and sustaining participant involvement in Gaelic Games Activities are GAME – BASED – a strong emphasis is placed on skill acquisition – and are organised in an age appropriate manner with a view to: optimising learning enhancing friendships improving physical & psychological well being promoting school and club links   KEY FEATURES ABOUT KELLOGG’S GAA CÚL CAMPS The camps are structured so that a different aspect of the game is worked on each day. The programme involves coaching specific skills of the game and the opportunity for children to put into practice what they have learned through small sided games. On the last day of the camp a “blitz” will be organised to provide each child with an introduction to competitive games. Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps – are run throughout the summer from Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 2.30pm, in all 32 Counties and overseas. (see Camp venues for dates). Attendance is open to primary school children aged 6 years to 13 years. Seniors v Ballaghaderreen

Our senior team play Ballaghaderreen in the third round of the Mayo SFC this Sunday, July 7th, at 2pm in Flanagan Park, Ballinrobe. The group – also featuring Garrymore and Aughamore – is very finely poised, so we are aiming to win on Sunday to put ourselves in the best possible position. Come out and support the lads. This is one of the biggest games of the year for us and we need all the support we can muster against the current county senior champions. We also need stewards to help out. Bring your high-viz vest and be there at 1.15pm. Let’s make it a day to remember for the club.

Under 16 Final 24 hours away !

Our Under 16 players will have a good night’s sleep tonight ahead of their Final showdown with Islandeady in McHale  Park tomorrow evening. The squad is raring to go and team management may have a few selection headaches. Throw-in is at 6.30pm. We are looking forward to a healthy contingent of the Maroon and Yellow Army supporting the team and cheering them on. AN ROB ABU.

U16s in county final

Ballinrobe Under 16 team, managed by Pat Kennedy and Declan Corcoran, play in the Mayo U16 Division 3  League final this  Friday 5th June at 6.30pm in McHale Park. The team earned their place there by defeating local rivals Shrule/Glencorrib on Tuesday last in the semi-final at Flanagan Park. In what was a very entertaining game Ballinrobe came out the winners on a score line of 3-13 v 2-8. We wish them the very best for the final where they will face Islandeady and we are sure they will bring a good band of supporters for the short trip to Castlebar. Referee will be Ger Carmody of Ballaghdereen. An Rob abu!

Clew Bay Half Marathon

Note here from our colleagues in Louisburgh GAA, who are on a major fund-raising drive for their pitch development at the minute. Hi All, Please pass on to anyone in your club who might be interested….the race is being run as a fundraiser for Louisburgh GAA pitch development. Many thanks. The third annual Clew Bay half marathon will take place on Saturday July 20th, 2013.  The race will start and finish in Louisburgh in Co. Mayo on the south coast of Clew Bay. The course will be run over a variety of landscapes ranging from north Connemara bogland to winding seaside roadways overlooking Clare Island and south Clew Bay. The course is challenging and exhilarating, it’s winding roads and ever changing scenery making it a very enjoyable run. This year’s event will be bigger and more exciting. The race itself will be chipped timed by Redtag timing. As per last year ample car parking will be provided as well as hot shower facilities after the race. All contestants will and very popular home made refreshments, hot or cold drinks after the race. There will be prizes for overall male and female winners as well as category prizes for male and female over 40 and over 50. Registration will cost €40 per person. All entrants will receive a top quality technical tee shirt and a finishers medal. The race is being organised as a fundraiser for a local Astroturf facility as well as other local charities.
