Hard luck to our U14s who were beaten by Claremorris in the South Mayo U14 A final in Flanagan Park, Ballinrobe, last night. Tom Carney’s report HERE, plus his half-time REPORT.
Ballinrobe has a strong connection with the Monaghan minor team who play Mayo in the ESB All-Ireland semi-final on Sunday next – twins Adam and Andrew Kieran, who play with Monaghan, are grand-nephews of our former President Jim Kierans, who passed away in February of this year. Note they spell their surname without an ‘s’, whereas Jim’s had the ‘s’. We received this tweet from @1jkieran (John Kieran) in the last few days: @ballinrobegaa Jim Kieran, he would have been torn between Mayo & his grand nephews Adam & Andrew with Monaghan Minors Sunday 25th. Of course we hope Adam and Andrew enjoy Croke Park – but not too much. You can read the club’s tribute to Jim HERE

Good luck to Donal Vaughan and Kenneth O’Malley, and their Mayo senior colleagues, against Tyrone on Sunday next. Alas Stephen Burke is injured and misses the minor game. We wish the minor team every success too. Hopefully it will be a memorable day for the green and red.

Here we are as we move to the half way stage of the Ballinrobe GAA All-In competition. John McHale is hanging on to his lead although the chasing pack are closing in. Andy Murray brought a smile to the face of about 100 All-Inners as well as the Centre Court crowd. Rory’s Nike putters are not doing any of us any favours. However plenty of point still to play for and I am sure ye all had Monaghan down as the winners of Ulster…..What do you mean you didn’t? Check your own progress HERE – download the spreadsheet.
