We had a great turnout to watch our last games and what great finals we had to finish off our football for 2016. The games were very competitive but played in a great spirit and all the girls were rightly proud of the way they played. There are lots of people to thanks, firstly thanks to OBH Kitchens for sponsorship of the cups for the winning teams. Thanks to John F and all at Lakeside for facilitating the running of the league and for providing a goodie bag for all the players after the finals. Thanks to Ellen, Leah and Mary our TY coaches – they have always encouraged and supported the players and are a great example to the girls. Thanks to parents who got the girls to the matches, we had a great turnout for all the games this year. And lastly thanks to the 32 the players, many of whom have just started playing football for the first time this year. Their skills, enthusiasm and sportsmanship have made it a very enjoyable six weeks. There were many highlights from the finals but these stood out. Week 4 and again some very exciting games as the players continue to develop their skills. This is the last week before the finals and depending on results any of five teams could make it into the top two. Thanks again to the TY students mentoring the teams they are doing a super job. We had some super games in week 3, with the players new to Pella finding their feet and some great teamwork being displayed. Only goal difference separates the top 3 teams and even though Team F have yet to win a game they put on a great display this week and are improving each week – keep up the great effort everyone.
