U12 Girls Blitz in Tourmakeady

Well done to our U12 girls who took part in the Thomais Ui Eimhrin blitz in Tourmakeady on Sunday 6th August. The girls played Tourmakeady and Breaffy and put on a great display in both games.  Well done to the players and coaches, this group continues to improve all the time. Thanks to the parents for bringing the girls to the blitz and staying to support them. Thanks to Tourmakeady for organising this event and for being great hosts. This was the start of a busy week for these girls with another match this Wednesday in Headford and a U13 match on Friday.

Ballinrobe u14 Ladies Championship Campaign Continues

Our u14 ladies are playing their second round of championship this Monday at 7:30 in the Lough. After a thrilling game on Monday where Ballinrobe finished as victors on a score line of 4-10 to 5-6, the girls are now focusing on their game against Tourmakedy. Coming from 8 points behind at the break, our girls rattled the opposition, scoring 3 goals without reply. Our defence stood strong and solid as we coasted with points from both our full and half forward lines. Both midfielders and half backs had put in serious mileage with our full backs and superstar goalie holding down the fort as we drove forward. Our fresh legged subs were crucial and were involved in every play as soon as they arrived on the pitch. Everything was looking as nicely wrapped as the silage this year, until Kilmoremoy gave one last push that ended up in the back of the net. The ref blew it up and on the hottest day of the year, we were into extra time. Closer to a game at Wimbledon than the one of Croke Park standard that we had witnessed in normal time, the ball was back and over between both sides, point for point. After the longest six minutes of these girls’ lives, Ballinrobe finished ahead by the smallest of margins. For the first time in decades, Ballinrobe have an u14 competing in championship, and by God are they ready for it.

Start Collecting for Topaz “Cash for Clubs 2017”

Ballinrobe GAA is now registered for the Topaz Cash for Clubs 2017 and we are asking all Members of the Club, Parents, Players and Coaches to start collecting the Topaz “Cash for Clubs” tokens for us. We were very lucky to win €5000 last year and are looking to build on our success and raise much needed Cash for our Club. The programme offers clubs of all types and sizes from across the island of Ireland the chance to win up to €10,000. The first club drawn will win the top prize of €10,000, while 10 clubs thereafter will win €5,000, and a further 140 will collect €1,000. Check out our winners video from last year below. How it works: We are encouraging all Members of the Club, Parents, Players and Coaches to go that extra mile for our club by collecting ‘Cash for Clubs’ tokens or using a Play or Park game tag which are available in- store or through the Topaz Play or Park app. You’ll receive one token once you spend €30 or more on fuel purchases and once you have linked your game tag to the club; BALLINROBE GAA #2831- MAYO your tokens will be automatically allocated to us. Once a club has collected 2,000 tokens, they will be automatically entered into an ‘everyone-wins’ draw. Cards will be available next week at all training sessions.  See link below https://www.playorpark.ie/cash-for-clubs/how-to-play#

Ladies U10s match vs Kilmaine

By Declan O’Louglin Our U10 ladies played their first game in Flanagan Park in 2017. On a beautiful May evening we had 22 players line out and we fielded two teams. Both our teams played really well, as with all games in this age group we are much more concerned about developing skills and playing football than who wins or looses. With this group are really seeing the results of all their hard work and practice since they started their Pella league in February. Well done girls and keep practicing!! Thanks to Kilmaine for making the trip in and hopefully their players enjoyed the games as well. Many thanks to the parents for getting the girls to training and matches. Thanks to Jarlath O’Connor and Andy Walsh for refereeing the two games.
