There were two very exciting games last night, we had some contentious refereeing decisions but thankfully no crowd trouble. We had a great turnout to see these young ladies put on a great exhibition of football. Well done to the two winners, commiserations to the losing teams they were two very close games. More importantly it was great to see how much these players have improved since the start of the year, a big thank you to their coaches for all their hard work. Thanks to Lakeside for hosting us again, we are very lucky to have this facility in town. Thanks also to Cummins & Sons Homevalue Ballinrobe for their sponsorship of the medals and cups. The girls were given a sponsorship card for a chance to win a Christmas Dinner (Red & White Wine, Turkey, Ham and dessert). These need to be returned to Mary Langan or Noreen Jennings by Saturday 9th December.

Teams must have at least one player in each half of the court at all times. If a team fails to do so, the opposing team is awarded a free from the opposition’s blue semi-circle. Ballinrobe GAA club are delighted to have KO Nutrition as sponsor for their under 14 ladies team. Katherine O Loughlin, of KO Nutrition is embarking on a new venture in which she hopes that she can help many players and their families. KO Nutrition is a nutrition consultancy providing advice for individuals, families and sports professionals. Katherine and the O’Loughlin family, have a long history with the club. Katherine was Club Secretary for many years in the mid 90s and the O’Loughlins have been heavily involved in the club for many years. Most recently, Declan is Bord na nOg Chairman and Katherine & Declan are delighted that both of their children are now playing in the club colours. There has been much research done recently into young girls and team sport and one study has revealed that playing team sports helps women build a strong set of life skills, like better mental well-being, dealing with pressure and self-confidence. But unfortunately, half of them drop out by the beginning of secondary school. KO Nutrition is delighted to be able to help in this small way and hope that all of these great girls stay playing football for many years to come.
