Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others

Calling all Ladies over 25.  Ballinrobe Ladies GAA Club – Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others kicks off again this year very shortly.  This is great fun and a non competitive outlet for all women of the community.  Whether you’re a novice, or a former or current player, this is a very enjoyable opportunity to get out for some exercise and perhaps learn a new skill in a fun environment.  Registration takes place this Friday evening 24th July in TACU from 7.00 to 8.30 pm with the first training session with experienced coaches on Wednesday the 29th July at 8.00pm in the community school pitch. All are welcome, whether you played before or not.  It promises to be a very enjoyable couple of months.

Kelloggs GAA Cúl Camps – Ballinrobe GAA Club

This year Ballinrobe GAA Club will be hosting two Kelloggs GAA Cúl Camps on the weeks beginning 20th July and 27th July.  In compliance with the GAA Return to Play Guidlines the numbers of each camp have been restricted to 120 children.  To ensure the safety of all participants and to comply with GAA guidelines there are a number of things parents should be aware of in anticipation of the Camps Read the Cúl Camps Guidelines for Parents and Guardians Cúl-Camps-Guidelines-Parents-Guardians-1  Children will be required to be dropped off and picked up from the camp in the morning at10.00am and afternoon at 2.00pm.   Health Questionnaire – There is a requirement for all participants to have a health questionnaire completed on the GAA Return to Site prior to the Camp on the morning of the first day.  The following link shows how to complete the questionnaire online https://youtu.be/kMY5nUKIfHA .  After watching the short youtube video, click here to enter the Kelloggs Cúl Camps site for links to the COVID-19 eLearning Module and the Health Questionnaire. MyLife GAA Healthy Clubs Step Challenge

Irish Life in conjunction with the GAA have launched the MyLife GAA Healthy Clubs Step Challenge to promote health and wellbeing and at the same time benefit one GAA Club in each province.  It is an ideal opportunity when the summer is here and the weather is good to get out and walk or run.   During the month of June lets take up the challenge which officially begins on the 3rd June and ends on the 30th June 2020.  At the end of the month, the club that has the most steps clocked up in each province will win a €2,500 O’Neills Voucher. The late Paddy Burke, RIP

Paddy Burke, Convent Road, Ballinrobe, who passed away on Sunday evening, was father of Declan and Adrian Burke, two prominent former Ballinrobe footballers. Declan and Adrian played at all levels for the club, and Declan lined out at right half-back on the Mayo team that won the 1985 All-Ireland Minor Football Championship. He also featured on the Ballinrobe team that won the 1990 Mayo Junior Football Championship and starred in the colours of Trinity College, Dublin, during his student days. Declan and Adrian both won a number of under age divisional and county titles with Ballinrobe, and Adrian was a member of the Ballinrobe Community School team that won the 1991 All-Ireland Colleges Senior B Football Championship, the first of nine All-Ireland titles won by the school in the 1990s. Declan played on the Ballinrobe CBS team that won the 1985 Flanagan Cup (Mayo Colleges Senior Championship) title. Both are now prominent businessmen in Ballinrobe. Declan is involved in the club’s Bord na nÓg section as an U12 coach. His wife, Siobhan, is the ladies football representative on our club’s executive committee. Adrian’s wife, Karen, is heavily involved in our ladies club. Paddy’s grandchildren Rossa, Kyle, Katie, Ry-Lee and Naoise play for the club at various levels. Paddy, who was well known in farming and business circles, is survived by his wife, Frances; daughter, Attracta Maria; sons, Declan and Adrian; sisters, Bernie and Bridget; grandchildren, Holly, Katie, Rossa, Kyle, Ry-Lee and Naoise; daughters-in-law, Karen and Siobhan; son-in-law, Niall; relatives and friends. Supermacs Ballinrobe Sponsorship

Ballinrobe Cúl Camp 2018

It’s all over for another year as the 2nd week of Cúl Camp concluded. There was a fantastic turnout for both camps with 265 kids participating. A fun filled two weeks was had by all with great skills and talent on display. A big thank you to all involved and to Kevin McLoughlin, Mayo Senior Player who visited both camps. Early signs of the rivalry ahead of Mayo’s 💚❤ U20’s All Ireland Final surfaced as a number of Kildare jerseys were spotted on the last day of camp. Our U9/10/11’s were not too impressed especially with Club and Mayo star Evan O’Brien present. Well done to all.

Cúl Camp Week One

Great fun and activity at Week One of Cúl Camp with 95 kids participating. Special thanks to Kevin McLoughlin, Mayo Senior Player for the visit yesterday, the children were delighted to see him. Lots of skill and talent on display so far and its only Day 3. Roll on more fun for next week in our Second Cúl Camp which is now fully booked.
