Ladies U12/U13 Pella Week 4 Results

By Ann Cannon, PRO, Ladies Football   Wow, another three great games with some girls scoring their first goals of the campaign. Remember even though it’s a league there is no harm in taking a shot and missing, it’s only by trying that you are going to improve. Be brave and don’t be afraid to have a go!! As we head into the final week we have a new joint leader at the top of the league, team D only ahead of team B on goal difference. A losing point for team A and wins for Teams E and C mean that things are very tight for third and fourth placed play-offs. Team F deserve a special mention for their effort on Wednesday evening, these girls have put in great work on all four games and this was their best display yet. Next week is going to be very important, with three teams who could be in the 1st / 2nd place play offs and three teams with a great chance of being in the 3rd/4th place play off. Your team needs you next week please make every effort to be there.   Please have the girls arrive 10 minutes before their playing time so they can be warmed up. Gumshields are mandatory and the players should bring a drink of water. Any questions call Declan on 087 2063863 or Mary on 087 2347438.

Ladies U12/U13 Pella Week 3 Results

By Ann Cannon, PRO, Ladies Football We are over the halfway stage in our league and there has been a noticeable improvement in the skill levels.  It has been great to see that the girls who are new to Gaelic football are coping very well in what is a very fast game.  Well done and keep up the good work. After the third week Team D are out in front and after good week teams B and E share joint second place. This weeks game between B and D could see that all change next week. Team F and C were just one goal shy of getting a loosing bonus by loosing by 3 goals or less. Please remember that girls, it could make a difference in the end! Please have the girls arrive 10 minutes before their playing time so they can be warmed up. Gumshields are mandatory and the players should bring a drink of water. Ladies U12/U13 Pella Week 2 Results

By Ann Cannon, PRO, Ladies Football Week two saw some more great games with some fantastic skills on show. Some of our teams have had late player withdrawals from their team and have struggled as a result. We hope to have replacements for these teams soon. Team A was without two players last week and had one of those games when no matter how hard they tried, the ball would just not go in the goal. Well done to everyone.  Remember, teamwork, pass and move. U10 Ladies Football First Training of 2016

Reminder to all U10 Ladies that this Saturday morning, February 06th, 11am – 12pm is our first training for the year 2016.  We start of the year indoors in the Lakeside sport Centre until mid March, weather dependant. Starting of the season as we finished last season playing Pella.  Pella is the indoor version of Football out on the Pitch.  Rules are very similar to the outdoor game with a few additions.  No need to worry as we will use the first Saturday to get acquainted with your new coaches and the rules of Pella especially for those of you who have moved up from the U8s or joining the club for first time. For the following weeks we will pick teams of 4/5 players on each and have a Pella League. If you have not already registered with the GAA for 2016 this can be done on Saturday before training starts. Rates are available on the Ballinrobe GAA website.  There is also an additional charge of €10 to cover the costs while playing indoors. Runners are to be worn while playing indoors.  Gumshields are mandatory for all football players be it indoors or out on the pitch. We welcome you all and look forward to having a great 2016.

Anna O’Loughlin is popular winner of €602

Anna O’Loughlin, a Co. Clare native who has been an unwavering supporter of Ballinrobe GAA club since moving to the town, was last night’s popular winner of the 50:50 jackpot promoted by the club. Anna receives €602 – it might help to offset the thousands she has spent travelling the highway and byways of Ireland following Ballinrobe football and, indeed, hurling teams. The third generation of O’Loughlins is now active in the club – and Anna’s son Declan is one of the driving forces behind under-age boys and girls in the club. The club’s tribute to Christy, Anna’s husband, is published HERE The family donated the Christy O’Loughlin Memorial Cup to the club last year – see HERE. The picture at the top of this page is of the Corofin U10 team after receiving the Christy O’Loughlin Cup.
