Connacht win for Ballinrobe Community School

By Billy Horan, Club PRO Ballinrobe Community School withstood a spirited challenge from St Aloysius College, Athlone, to win the Connacht Colleges Junior B football championship final on a score line of 2-10 to 1-11 in at Mountbellew last week. An Oisin Hanlon goal helped to fashion a Ballinrobe interval lead of 1-6 to 0-5. Competitive exchanges marked the second-half and a Cathal Slattery goal was a crucial factor in gaining the title for Ballinrobe. Evan O’Brien, the captain, Cathal Slattery, who scored 1-2, Adam Barrett, Oran O’Malley, Tommy Conroy and Christopher Vahey were well to the fore for Ballinrobe. Minors win

By Billy Horan, Club PRO Unbeaten Ballinrobe defeated Bohola Moy Davitts by 5-15 to 1-5 in the fourth round of the Division 3 of the Mayo minor football league at Flanagan Park, Ballinrobe, last week. The rampant victors led by 3-11 to 0-1 at the interval. Scorers for Ballinrobe: Tom Quinn 2-4, Evan O’Brien 1-3, Dean Shaughnessy 1-1, Rory Jennings 1-0, Ryan Hobson and Oisin Hanlon 0-2 each, Peter Butler, John Enda Flannelly and Kieran Finnerty 0-1 each.
