Christy O’Loughlin, who passed away in 2012, was a valued member of Ballinrobe GAA Club – and this Saturday the Christy O’Loughlin Memorial Cup will be inaugurated.
The club’s tribute to Christy can be viewed HERE.
Four U12 teams will compete for the Christy O’Loughlin Cup, and the two semi-finals will take place as follows:
Semi-finals:
3pm – Ballinrobe v Ballintubber
3.45pm – Parke v Corofin
The semi-finals will be followed by a B final (4.30pm) and A final (5.15pm).
This event forms part of the Queen of the Lakes festival which kicks off in Ballinrobe this weekend.
The Andy Merrigan Cup, captured in thrilling fashion by Corofin in Croke Parrk on St Patrick’s Day, will be on display.
“Members of the O’Loughlin family will be present on the day. It promises to be a great family occasion and we expect a large turn-out. Bring your cameras to capture those memories,” said organiser Declan Corcoran.
