U6 First outdoor training session 2016

By Annette Conway, PRO Robe Rockets A big welcome to our U6’s, the Clubs youngest members who had their first outdoor training session in Flanagan Park this morning. The threat of rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of the boys and girls and they spend the next hour under the supervision of Dónal, the two Sean’s and Micheál who put them through their paces. Over the last 12 weeks the Coaches and children have been developing their skills indoors in the Lakeside on Saturday mornings. Today was the first opportunity for most of the children to train in Flanagan Park. Thanks again to all parents who cooperated with the drop off and collection of children outside the dressing rooms this morning. See you all again next week. New players are always welcome to join. U12: Grading League Group 3 Game 5

By Ann Cannon, PRO, Ladies Football Our U12 ladies played their final grading game against Hollymount on Friday in Flanagan park on a beautiful spring evening. During this league we played five matches three at home and two away to Carnacon and Kiltimagh.  We have had 23 players play and some have played their first Gaelic football games for the club. These young ladies have developed with each game and have always played to the best of their abilities. They are a credit to our club. A neutral spectator who saw these girls play last year commented on their huge improvement since then. This is credit to all the hard work of the players and their coaches and to the parents/guardians who make sure the ladies are at training and games every week. We look forward to our next group of games once the leagues have been decided.  Watch this space! Please note that all training and match details are on the calendar at the bottom of the homepage on http://www.ballinrobegaaclub.com/

Senior league defeat to Burrishoole

By Billy Horan, Club PRO Burrishoole accounted for the Ballinrobe challenge by 5-7 to 2-10 in the second round of Division 1B of the Mayo senior football league at Newport on Sunday. The wind -assisted home side led by 3-4 to 1-3 at the interval, with county player Jason Doherty (2) and Michael Joyce getting the goals. Ballinrobe provided far stiffer opposition in the third quarter and excellent kicking of points by Kevin Quinn helped to reduce the margin to the minimum, 3-5 to 1-10. Burrishoole, however, responded resolutely to the challenge and a brace of goals by Alan Ryder in the 47th and 50th minutes put paid to the Ballinrobe threat. Scorers for Ballinrobe: Joseph Burke 1-1, Kevin Quinn and Darren McDonnell 0-4 each, Simon Walsh 1-0, Peter Butler and David Killeen 0-1 each.
