By Annette Conway, PRO Robe Rockets Des May, U10 Coach provides a detailed report on the Semi Finals of U10 Boys Pella League. “5 weeks, 10 hours of excitement, 20 games, 42 players and 214 goals – I’m exhausted just typing it. What a tournament it’s been. The final pairings have been decided but it’s fair to say all eight teams could have reached the final – of the 20 games so far, 5 were drawn and 12 won by two or less goals. It’s been a very competitive and entertaining league and all the players deserve great credit for their effort, their enthusiasm and their skill – I hope they have enjoyed it and grown in confidence in their abilities.  Please consult the schedule attached to see what time each team is playing on Friday. Thank you to everyone for your cooperation during the league”. €3000 worth of prizes up for grabs at Friday’s Fun Casino Night

Update, Tuesday, March 15: Thirty prizes worth a combined total of €3000 up for grabs at Friday night’s Vegas Casino Night in The Valkenburg, hosted by Ballinrobe GAA Club. Home heating oil, food and shop vouchers, hampers and much, much more. €20 per ticket. Update, Monday, March 14: Huge interest developing in our Vegas Casino Night on Friday night. We have had people enquiring about the games that will be on offer, and we can now confirm they are: Texas Holdem, Black Jack, Roulette, Chuck-A-Luck, Carribean Stud, Wheel Of Fortune and Hi-Low.   Players at Ballinrobe GAA Club’s Vegas Fun Casino Night on Friday night next (March 18) could win some top prizes, including home heating oil, shop vouchers, hampers, tickets to local events, and membership of Ballinrobe Racecourse. “Thanks to generous local businesses, we have been able to put together a great list of prizes for players who get to the final ‘top ten’ table on the night,” said John Gilrane, Treasurer, Ballinrobe GAA Club. “On the night, and afterwards, we will publish the full list of sponsors.” The event starts in the Valkenburg at 8pm, and tickets, costing €20, are available from club members, a number of local outlets, on the door on the night. The entrance fee will entitle you to a number of free punts on the tables, and finger food will also be served. “The key point is that this is a fun night that can be enjoyed by club members, spouses, friends, supporters and anyone else who wants to come along for a good night’s entertainment,” explained John Gilrane, treasurer, Ballinrobe GAA club. “It is an opportunity for the club to raise funds for our extensive under-age and adult football programmes. “We now have ladies and men’s clubs and we are striving to fulfil our Coaching Plan aspiration of providing football for all.” There will be music on the night and some mystery guests as dealers. A huge club effort is now underway to ensure it is a genuinely fun night that will also act as an early-season social occasion for club members and supporters.

See who won the €540 jackpot in this week’s 50:50 draw

This week’s winner of our 50:50 jackpot was Makayla O’Kelly, who won €540. Vegas Casino Night ticket winners: John Biggins and Veronica O’Kelly. Gaelic4Girls’ coming to Ballinrobe

  ‘Gaelic4Girls’ coming to Ballinrobe’ Ballinrobe Ladies Gaelic Football club are delighted to announce details of an exciting new programme called Gaelic4Girls that is commencing on the 15th April 2016. Gaelic4Girls is initially an 8 week programme aimed at increasing participation in Ladies Gaelic Football. The programme targets girls aged between 8-12 years who are not currently registered with a Ladies Gaelic Football Club. Gaelic4Girls is focused on fun and participation, allowing girls to get an introduction to Ladies Gaelic Football in a non-competitive environment.  It will be held in Flanagan Park, Ballinrobe on Fridays for 8 weeks from 18:30 – 19:30, commencing on the 15th April 2016. On completion of the programme, participants are presented with certificates and t-shirts for their participation. Following the 8 weeks, the girls will be encouraged to register with our Ladies Football club, and those that do will be integrated into the existing teams. A Mini Blitz will also be held with another Gaelic4Girls site after the 8 weeks and this is a major highlight of the programme. This is the first Gaelic4Girls programme to be held in the area and all girls from ballinrobe and the surrounding areas are encouraged to attend and learn the basic skills of Ladies Gaelic Football. Ladies U12/U13 Pella League Finals

  By Ann Cannon, PRO, Ladies Football   Our Finals evening of the U12/U13 Pella took place on Wednesday last and I think it’s fair to say that we’ve seen a great improvement in the ladies skills and confidence.  They’ve worked very well together in their individual teams. Congratulations to Team D on winning the League. Also to the other teams who took part in the League.  Well done to you all.  The level of play was at it’s finest on our final night. Runners Up Team B Teams A and C , E and F   Thank you to the parents etc, for bringing the ladies to the league each night. It was great to see so many of you waiting on and cheering on the ladies at the Finals. Ladies U12/U13 Pella Week 5 Results

  By Ann Cannon, PRO, Ladies Football   Well we’ve come to the end of our Girls U12/13 Pella League and what a fantastic five weeks we have had.  We’ve seen some great games and it has been a joy watching the skills levels of all of the girls getting stronger each week. Congratulations to Team D on placing top of the League Table and to all of the ladies who took part. Thank you to the Coaches and parents who were there each week.  We know it’s not easy to be out in the evenings with homework, dinners and study to be organised.  A special thank you to the girls who stepped in to play with teams A and F each week.  It’s a fast game and for some of you to play two games in one evening was great. This coming Wednesday brings us to the playoffs. A nice way to round off our League would be if all the parents could stay on this week to watch and cheer on their young ladies in the playoffs.  Your support is greatly appreciated. Please have the girls arrive 10 minutes before their playing time so they can be warmed up. Gumshields are mandatory and the players should bring a drink of water.
