By Billy Horan, Club PRO Ballinrobe were too good for visiting Ballintubber in the county minor summer league played at Ballinrobe last week, prevailing by 4.10 to 0.5. Scorers for Ballinrobe: K Quinn 1.7, G Lynagh 1.2, P Butler 1.1, P Jennings 1.0. Michael Conway, Patrick Burke, Aaron Lally, Darragh McGuinness, Stephen O’Malley and Jamie Finnerty tried hardest for Ballintubber.

U16s win well versus Erris St Patrick’s

By Billy Horan, Club PRO Ballinrobe were emphatic victors in the second round of the JJ Burke Renault U16 D Football Championship, Section 2, last week, defeating a visiting Erris St Patrick’s by 8.25 to 1.5. Early goals by Liam Burke and Dylan Jennings foreshadowed what was to ensue and the locals were comfortably positioned at the interval on a score line of 5.11 to 0.2. The visitors tried their utmost to put a better face on things after the resumption of the action but to no avail as Ballinrobe extended their advantage. Evan O’Brien, Evan Gannon, Liam Burke, Padraig Óg Horan, Oran O’Malley and Oisin Hanlon impressed for Ballinrobe. Mickey Conroy, Finian Carolan the scorer of the goal, Alan Barrett, Ciaran Doherty, Conor Kilker and Stephen Grealis, the goalkeeper, were prominent for the losers. Scorers for Ballinrobe: Liam Burke 3.6, Oisin Hanlon 2.3, Evan O’Brien 0.8, Ross Philbin 1.1, D Jennings and M Burke a goal each, K Tierney 0.3, R Jennings 0.2, P Óg Horan and E Langan 0.1. Congrats to Donie

Everyone within Ballinrobe GAA Club sends on their best wishes to our own Donal Vaughan, whom collected his 5th Connacht Medal after yesterdays comprehensive victory over Sligo. Donal capped a fine running display to finish the day with 2 points. Along with being an integral part of our club, Donal and his family are also club sponsors and have launched their new website recently, more can be seen here — www.vaughanshoes.ie. We are all now looking forward to a long summer in Croke Park cheering on Donal and the Mayo Squad, with the Quarter Finals coming up in 3 weeks time.

U10s enjoy clash with @mayogaelsgaa

U16 lose narrowly to Ballaghaderreen

By Billy Horan, Club PRO Ballaghaderreen pipped visiting Ballinrobe by two points – 2-12 to 2-10 – in the opening round of the JJ Burke Renault Mayo U16 D football championship, section two, last week. The home side was in front by 1-6 to 0-4 at half-time, but Ballinrobe made more of an impact after play resumed. Goals by Ross Philbin and Evan O’Brien helped to fashion an advantage of 2-10 to 1-9 by the 45th minute. Ballaghaderreen, however, responded resolutely to the challenge and the necessary scores emerged in an exciting finish to claim victory. Figuring with distinction for Ballinrobe were Evan O’Brien, Padraig Og Horan, Christopher Vahey, Kieran Finnerty, Evan Reaney, Evan Gannon and Ross Philbin.
