Pix from Ballinrobe v Kilmeena U16 clash

Many thanks to Mr Martin McIntyre (Kilmeena club member) who out of his commitment to the GAA and particularly Kilmeena GAA Club travels to most of the Kilmeena matches at all levels and photographs the action. I think you’ll agree that the action photographs are top class. http://www.kilmeenagaaclub.ie/2013-10-10-12-00-05/under-16 https://picasaweb.google.com/116414218992329230135/ KilmeenaVBallinrobeU16Championship#6036590907780476946

Cup Camp pix and interviews

Interviews with Mayo footballers Kevin McLoughlin and Adam Gallagher…plus Cul Camp co-ordinator Martin Costello… …and pix of participants with the Nestor Cup, Kevin and Adam. All from today’s Cul Camp at Flanagan Park, Ballinrobe. Interviews HERE Pix HERE Last year 110 children took part. That was a record until then – this year, the figure has increased by a whopping 30. That bodes well for the future of GAA in this area – and Martin Costello, Camp Co-ordinator, spoke about noticing improved skills among the local contingent again this year. The camp continues for the rest of the week. The pix are high-resolution if you wish to download and print.

Updates from yesterday’s action

WEDNESDAY, JULY 9, 2014: Update at 4.25pm: Finally got around to the report on an epic U21 encounter last night – HERE Update at 8am: With all the panic, I didn’t give the U16 result until now – Carras 8-10, Ballinrobe 3-8. The reason for neglecting it was that the U21 Brennan Cup match in Hollymount consumed all my attention from 8pm until almost 10pm. Poor broadband coverage (wait until I see Pat Rabbitte again, and he a former south Mayo footballer himself) meant our scoreboard updates diminished from about half-time on, and, to put the tin hat on it, the phone battery almost expired. Despite a truly monumental effort by Ballinrobe, we lost to Hollymount-Carramore by 5-11 to 3-14. It was a real sickener – would have been a great game to win, a real boost to the club. We led for about 57 minutes of normal time, and led, too, during extra-time. It was just wasn’t to be, but it was a magnificent encounter. Our players played some brilliant football at times, and sustained teh effort for the entire 80 minutes. Congrats to Hollymount-Carramore, they stuck at it even though they trailed us for most of the evening. I will have an Audioboo report at some point today.   TUESDAY, JULY 8, 2014: 7.34pm: Half-time in the U16 game v Carras, in Flanagan Park – Carras 5-4, Ballinrobe 2-3. We hope to have Twitter, Facebook and Audioboo updates from our U21 Brennan Cup game v Hollymount-Carramore, which starts in Hollymount at 8pm. Updates from Hollymount will be broadband service permitting, and if it’s anything like the broadband service I’m getting in my front room this evening, it could prove a silent evening. Still time to get out to Holly’ for the match, and be back for when Brazil-Germany heats up. The Twitter, Audioboo and Facebook updates all feed into the site, just below this news section. You will need to refresh this page to allow updates to flow in.
