Ballinrobe made a rewarding visit to Belmullet on Sunday when getting the better of the home side by 1-5 to 1-3 in Division 1B of the Mayo senior football league.

Gale-force winds led to severe physical conditions for the contestants and Ballinrobe led by 1-1 to 0-3 at the break, with Darren McDonnell executing the goal. Belmullet, boosted by a Jason Boylan goal, strove earnestly to rectify matters in the second half, but excellent kicking of long-range points by McDonnell kept Ballinrobe in front.

Other Ballinrobe players to perform well were Shane Biggins, James Murphy, Kevin Quinn and Conor Keane.
